LCCO gathered for its final rehearsal Tuesday night before Saturday's premiere performance of "Overture," featuring the music of Beethoven, Dvořák, Mozart, Strauss, and Holmès. The concert will be the first time the full orchestra has been on stage together since 2019.
"Everyone is looking forward to playing in front of an audience," said Music Director Vincent Povázsay. " Saturday will also be Povázsay's first performance in charge of the orchestra since accepting the position over the summer.
"I worked with the group two years ago filling in for former music director, Tara Villa Keith, who was out on maternity leave. I'm so happy to come on board and help bring the group back together following the pandemic,” said Povázsay.
Saturday's concert begins at 7:30 pm at The Mann Center (507 N. Steele St. in Sanford) and is followed by a repeat performance on Sunday at 3:00 pm. LCCO concerts are free and open to the public. COVID-19 protocols will be in place and masks are required for the audience.
