Updated: Jul 26, 2021

The Board of Directors of Lee County Community Orchestra takes great delight in announcing the selection of Vincent Povázsay as Music Director! Povázsay is scheduled to begin rehearsing with the full group in mid-August in preparation for a 2021-2022 season that will start with October concerts and continue in December, March and May.

Povázsay is well known to orchestra audiences as guest conductor in October 2019 when Tara Villa Keith, now Music Director Emeritus, was on maternity leave. Most recently he was summoned to lead the LCCO strings ensemble in keeping-fit practices. The end result was a May memorial concert in honor of cellist Manly Lucas who died in February.

"I'm thrilled to continue working with the Lee County Community Orchestra and honored to be their Music Director for the upcoming season," said Povázsay. "It's a joy to be able return to the concert stage and to be part of all this community has to offer musically."

Povázsay is currently working on assembling repertoire for the orchestra’s first rehearsal of the season, Tuesday, August 24, 6:30 pm in the practice hall of the Fine Arts Building at Lee County High School.

Keeping in mind that Covid-19 and the Delta Variant protocols may influence how it can operate, nevertheless LCCO is glad to be back in business! To learn more about Povázsay, click on the "Musicians" page link near the bottom of the page.
