Music Director Povázsay Visits Vienna

In 2021, LCCO Music Director Vincent Povázsay visited Vienna, Austria's historic capital city and unquestionably one of the most important musical centers in Europe. One of his adventures took him to a place that might seem an unlikely sight-seeing destination, but it was full of both historical value and personal meaning for Vincent.

Povázsay toured the Wiener Zentralfriedhof, Vienna's Central Cemetery. The cemetery is one of the largest in the world and includes the burial sites of many famous musical figures.

The graves of great musicians to be found at the Wiener Zentralfriedhof include those of Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Suppé, Johann Strauss Jr., Schoenberg, Gluck, and Ligeti. Povázsay said it was an incredible feeling to be so close to these figures he has studied and whose music he has performed.
