LCCO and Music Director Vincent Povázsay are pleased to present two performances of "Visions of America" on Saturday, October 19 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, October 20 at 3:00 pm at the Mann Center in Sanford.
This first set of concerts of our 2024-25 season brings together a collection of musical works that are diverse in style but share an ambition to capture the spirit, history and ideals of America. Each piece evokes a particular aspect of the American identity - from its landscapes and values to its triumphs and challenges - creating a broad portrayal of our country's journey and character.
Audiences might reflect on how these pieces collectively express both the grandeur and complexity of the American identity. They can look for themes of unity, sacrifice, heroism and diversity with a sense of optimism that has historically defined our “vision of America.”
