With the first performances of the "Back Onstage" season completed in October, Sanford's hometown orchestra quickly pivots to rehearsing pieces for its popular Christmas concerts.
"Holiday Scenes" will include two performances on Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Mann Center (507 N. Steele St. in Sanford) at 3:00 and 7:30 pm, and feature favorites like Skaters Waltz, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Sleigh Ride.
"Preparing for our Christmas concerts is rewarding because the music is often familiar and comforting and joyful. It's hard not to be in a good mood and we look forward to sharing that energy with the audience," said Music Director Vincent Povázsay. "At the same time, it takes a lot of practice and cooperation to make great music. Everyone has an important role to play."
The "Holiday Scenes" program:
Christmas Overture
Winter Wonderland
Eugene Onegin Opera Waltz by Tchaikovsky
Skaters Waltz
A Christmas Festival
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Sleigh Ride
LCCO concerts are free and open to the public. COVID-19 protocols will be in place and masks are required for the audience. Additionally, LCCO will perform the show without intermission as has become standard with orchestras to reduce audience mingling and the potential spread of the virus.
